Many Christians are unable to give the names of Jesus’ twelve disciples and this book was written as a basic study, in a simple and easy to-understand language, to know about them, and learn lessons from their lives.

Each of them had his own personality and yet Jesus was able to change and use them in the service of the Kingdom of God. Very little was written about a few of them, (for example Thaddaeus) and yet we can learn a great deal from their lives.

It is important to remember that the apostles were human beings like ourselves. Unlike us, however, they had personal face-to-face knowledge of Jesus Christ, our Saviour, and saw many remarkable miracles than we know nothing about….

How the gospel of Jesus Christ reached Nigeria is a story worth telling. Therefore, it seemed most appropriate to write this short history at this time when ‘Mission Africa’ is celebrating 125 years work in that land?




This book is the history of two churches in Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland. As with any history there are always questions left unanswered and gaps where the reader would love to learn more. At times it was enjoyable, exciting work and other times frustrating especially when I found the right book only to find the details I was looking for had been omitted from the records, and at other times no minute book could be found. Sadly a number of records are missing from both the local congregation and also old Presbytery books. I also visited various libraries pouring over books and newspapers searching for information…

It has a few pages on ‘Presbyterians come to Ireland (early 1600s)’, ‘Opposition to the Presbyterians’, ‘Presbyterians at Ahoghill (1654)’, ‘First Ahoghill Congregation ‘began to grow’. This is followed by various renovations and improvements
over the years, then the long debate in 2003 about the need for major renovations. From 2007 to 2009 discussions took place about what should be done and by 2010 it was decided to build a new church complex. The old building was then renovated and
